A short film can be a vehicle to illuminate the special talents or unappreciated, against-type abilities of an actor or actress.
Without waiting for a director or producer to notice your potential, just craft a project with yourself in mind.
This is why several projects I’ve written are vehicles to show off a talented actor or actress. These projects can (and should) be tailored to show off what you do best.
Here’s how Vin Diesel did it (back when he was unknown). The film below got the attention of Steven Spielberg, leading directly to his role in “Saving Private Ryan.”
Interview where he mentions his short film’s role in his career: “I had to have product, regardless of how big or small it was.” The short film (above) was his first product. “Saving Private Ryan” was Vin Diesel’s first paid acting gig.
